Skills learned from research

Coaching is an emerging and evolving field, complex and dynamic, integrating the ideas, theories, and approaches of many theorists and researchers, both past and present. Coaches, for decades, have been sought to help improve performance (Short & Short, 2005). Although athletic coaches initially paved the way (Gallwey, 1976), coaches have been used in a variety of fields for many years to assist individuals to improve in areas such as music, language, and drama, all employed with the express purpose of enhancing performance. Business professionals are no different. They, too, have sought out and hired coaches to help them enhance their performance (Weller & Weller, 2004).
