Introduction

The aim of this chapter is to explore the role of the team leader in supporting both the team coaching process and team development. The chapter is informed by 28 years of team leadership and coaching experience and recent doctoral research into the role of coaching in supporting team leadership development. For the purposes of this chapter, the team leader is considered to be embedded within the team, reporting to senior management.
