Chapter Aims

Public relations (PR) within the political sphere operates in two main areas, the use of PR practices by government and mainstream political parties and the use of PR and public affairs by non-governmental actors seeking to influence the political process. The first part of this chapter will discuss the role of political PR in democratic societies with a particular focus on governmental communication in the United Kingdom.
