Acknowledgments
This dictionary was Jonathan Gennick’s brainchild. Indeed, Jonathan originally intended to write it himself, and I’m very grateful to him for stepping out of the limelight, as it were, and letting me steal his idea and run with it as I’ve done. Jonathan and I have very different writing styles, and what follows is no doubt a long way from what he originally had in mind, but I hope it at least does justice to his overall idea. I’d also like to thank Jonathan and my other technical reviewers, Hugh Darwen and Nick Tindall, for their many helpful comments on earlier drafts; Hugh in particular had something useful to say on nearly every entry. Needless to say, however, any remaining errors or infelicities are my own responsibility. Finally, I’d like to thank the team at O’Reilly, especially Debby Russell (acquisitions editor), Rachel Monaghan (production editor), and Marlowe Shaeffer (production manager) for their professionalism and their efforts in getting this book out so expeditiously. It has been a pleasure to work with them.
