Tool 48

Peer assist

What the tool is

Peer assist is a variant of Action learning (see Tool 49), bringing together peers to give feedback on an issue, problem, idea, project, etc. The principle behind it is that, whatever you are about to do, someone has probably done it before you and you can benefit from their experience. It works best with a group of six to eight people.

When to use it

  • When you are starting a new project and could benefit from the advice of more experienced people.
  • When you are facing a problem that others have faced in the past.
  • When you are planning a project similar to one that another group has been involved in or even completed.

What you will need

  • Working space and time.
