LED Cube
LED cubes require some care and good soldering skills to make, but they make very effective light displays. Every one of the 27 LEDs in this project can be turned on and off independently, and you can make some really interesting animation effects even with just 3 × 3 × 3 pixels (Figure 2-1).

For some truly amazing LED cubes, with thousands of LEDs, search YouTube. Be warned that even a 3 × 3 × 3 cube is quite fiddly to make.
