This chapter covers a variety of protocols and mechanisms that were created to simplify the introduction of IPv6 into the Internet. The goal is not to make an abrupt transition from all-IPv4 to all-IPv6 on some kind of “flag day” (as happened in the transition from the First Internet to the Second Internet). That would be unbelievably disruptive and unlikely to succeed.
