18. Security Apps
The Windows Store has an entire category for security apps. The problem is, it’s pretty empty.
I don’t know why there aren’t a lot of security apps (yet) for Windows 8.1. It’s not that Windows suddenly got super-secure; it’s just as porous and hackable as it ever was. So there’s certainly a need for apps that improve your PC’s security.
To be fair, there are a ton of anti-malware and security utilities available, it’s just that they’re desktop programs, not full-screen Modern apps. So if you want to protect your computer against viruses, spyware, computer attacks, and such, seek out the tried and true desktop tools from Norton, McAfee, and other security companies—there’s no point waiting for full-screen versions when you need ...
