About the Authors
Thomas L. Busby, the founder and CEO of DTI, has been a professional securities trader for more than 25 years. He began his trading career with Merrill Lynch, and before DTI opened its doors in 1996, he was a vice president with Salomon Smith Barney.
Tom earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia and a juris doctorate degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. He was a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Budget Officer School, and served seven years as an officer in the United States Air Force prior to becoming a professional securities broker and trader. Tom is well respected in his field and is a member of both the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).
Tom suffered a great financial setback during the crash of 1987. When the market tanked, he was overleveraged in the options market. Many traders would have left the arena after such a loss, but not Tom. He persisted and immersed himself in his work by studying and analyzing the markets. Out of his defeat came a new determination to improve his approach and become a better trader. Over the years he has developed a unique method whereby the avoidance of risk has become his primary focus and profit taking has assumed a second-row seat.
