How to Introduce Module Writing to the Design Team

After the team has conducted the team job task analysis, draw a two-column format (as shown in Worksheet 6.1) on the flipchart or whiteboard and discuss columns 1 and 2 with the design team.

Module Column 1: Action Steps

The information in column 1, called action steps, tells the trainee exactly what to do and always consists of an action verb plus an object. Number the action steps to make them readily distinguishable to the users. In general, include only one action per action step. Although ultimately you’ll have to list the action steps in their proper sequence, don’t expect this to happen right away. Rearrange them as needed when all are listed.
