Connecting Objectives to Measurement

Based on the current trend to do more with less, many instructional designers feel pressured to skip analysis all together, or at least take shortcuts when it comes to conducting analysis. As you learned in Chapter 4, I encourage designers to take a flexible approach to analysis and consider how much analysis will yield a positive business or performance impact. If you have applied the cost-vs.-risk rule to analysis, you will have the right amount of data to help you make good decisions in the Design phase of the model (see Figure 5.1).
