Knowing how much load to apply in a load test has long been a question without a well-defined answer. The Scalability Yardstick (Chapter
6) finally answers that question with an easy-to-follow test formula, which also provides an uncommonly convenient way to assess scalability. The test itself is just a small, evolutionary improvement to the very commonly used incremental load test.
