James D. Taylor has watched electronic technology evolve from vacuum tubes to high-speed integrated digital circuits. He studied for his Bachelor of Science degree with a slide rule and did his master’s thesis project in FORTRAN on a CDC mainframe computer with punch cards. His experiences as a U.S. Air Force staff engineer exposed him to the frontiers of electronics technology.
