Qı-ngmíng Shànghé Tú (‘Along the River during the Qingming Festival’) is a panoramic painting by Zhang Zeduan (AD 1085–1145). It captures the daily life of people from the North Song period at the capital of Bianliang (today’s Kaifeng). The entire piece (24.8×528.7 cm) was painted in hand scroll format and the content reveals the lifestyle of all levels of society, from rich to poor, as well as different economic activities in the city and the surrounding rural areas.
