The following definitions for lighting terms are taken from BS EN 12665: 2011: Light and Lighting: Basic terms and criteria for specifying lighting requirements.1 Note that the list includes some definitions that are not used within this book, and that for some terms, an additional or alternative definition is given.

Absence factor (FA)

Factor indicating the proportion of time that a space is unoccupied

Absorptance

Ratio of the luminous flux absorbed in a body to the luminous flux incident on it

Accommodation
