Conclusion

Podcast Producer is a great solution for quickly and easily posting video or audio to a website. This video can then be aggregated using an RSS feed, websites, or even iTunes. This becomes a great way to keep the family updated on what is going on with the kids, get training videos to your users, or even teach a class of kids how to dissect a frog.

But Podcast Producer is one of the more complicated solutions bundled into Lion Server. The initial installation example shown in this chapter is very basic, with podcasts being made available on a website and in iTunes. Very little automation is done on the video. We are capable of doing much more, as shown in the later sections of the chapter. Using the more complicated features, extremely complicated workflows can be strung together, providing unlimited abilities, once you layer scripting and third-party products on top of these workflows.

Now that we’ve finished looking at various collaboration services in Lion Server, in Chapter 8 we will turn our attention to using policies to control aspects of client systems. The remainder of the book will then be dedicated to these types of infrastructure-based services.
