How old is that radio set?

It is possible to make a fairly accurate estimate of the age of a radio set by taking a close look at the dial, because over the years the wavelengths and names of various stations were changed several times. Although the exact dates of the alterations are known, there is an inevitable time gap before all the sets being produced were fitted with appropriately marked dials. As far as the BBC is concerned, the 1930s are split into pre- and post-1935 by the introduction of the Droitwich high power long wave transmitter in October 1934.
