This chapter covers the following subjects:

Virtual Disk Format Types—Three types of virtual disks are available to virtual machines. The Lazy-Zeroed Thick Virtual Disk is the default format, Eager-Zeroed Thick Virtual Disk zeros and formats all of its blocks at creation, and Thin Virtual Disk does not preallocate capacity when it is created.
