Despite being highly sought out by entrepreneurs, venture capitalists are not easy to find. You have to make an effort to find VCs and get them to take a look at your company. This chapter tells you how. Turn to Chapter 5 for suggestions and strategies on building a rapport with VCs after you find them.

Service Providers

Believe it or not, your accountant, lawyer, or banker may be your connection to future funding. Some firms have good relationships with local venture capitalists.

It’s in a service provider’s best interest for your company to grow large, wealthy, and prosperous, and the best service providers want to help you do that. An accountant who is willing to go above the call of duty for his client, for example, will take it upon himself to suggest venture capital funding and make introductions to investors when the time is right — definitely something to consider when you’re interviewing your next service provider.
