Chapter 9. Move, Copy & Align

In this chapter you’ll learn how to move objects; use smart guides to align them; duplicate objects by dragging or by using the Clipboard or the Offset Path command; and align and distribute objects via palette buttons.

Moving Objects

Below, we discuss the simplest and most direct method for moving objects: by dragging. In conjunction with a great feature called smart guides (see the next page), dragging can easily take care of most of your moving needs. To learn other techniques for moving objects, such as the Control palette, Transform palette, and Move dialog box, see Chapter 11; to use ruler guides, object guides, and the grid as alignment tools, see Chapter 29.
