Foreword

The management of datacenters epitomizes the issues and challenges that today’s IT departments must face when confronted with a difficult dilemma: providing more services within budgets that shrink each year. As critical business ecosystems, datacenters are growing ever more complex, with their components ever more intricately interlinked. Despite this complexity, corporate computing must remain flexible and must answer the business needs that generate income for the company.

At the same time, the quantity of data generated is constantly increasing. According to estimates, the quantity of information generated 10 years from now will be 44 times what it is today, and to manage such a data flow, we will need 10 times as many servers.
