Cross-Site Request Forgery

Just like cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery (CSRF) is essentially a way to bypass the defenses of the same-origin policy, but it works in a completely opposite way. The simplest way to describe the difference between these two attacks is to look at it from a perspective of trust. When you look at a web site, you trust that what you’re seeing actually came from that site. This is the trust that the XSS attacker exploits: he injects his own content that looks as if it came from the server. But there’s another trust relationship at work, too.
