Improving your search results
Using the taskbar
Customizing the taskbar in unexpected, but useful ways
In Chapters 1 and 2 of this minibook, you learn about the desktop and the Start menu: how they look, how they work, and how to personalize them. Now it's time to learn how to search for stuff in Windows 11, and how to use the operating system’s search feature to quickly start apps. It’s a pretty neat feature, and I use it regularly. Although Windows Search is fast, it doesn’t search through everything on your computer. That can be changed, though, as you learn in this chapter.
Then you have the taskbar. It’s sitting there on your desktop, and it helps you open the Start menu and your favorite apps. In Windows 11, the taskbar has undergone many changes, not all for the better. In this chapter, you discover the basics about how it works and some nifty tricks that will make you more productive. Lastly, you’ll see how to pin the apps you want and remove the icons you don’t want on your taskbar.
