When it comes to the desktop, Windows 11 copied the approach used by Apple on the Mac. As a result, the Start menu and the taskbar are centered and the icons on the taskbar behave in a similar way as those on the Mac. I like this new approach, and I especially like the new Start menu, which is organized differently than it was in Windows 10, with new sections and items. Gone are the tiles from Windows 10, and back are the classic shortcuts from Windows 7. Hooray, right?
In this chapter, I give you a tour of the Windows 11 Start menu, explain how it's organized, and show you how to navigate it. You also find out how to personalize the different sections, add and remove folders, and align the Start menu to the left, like it was in older versions of Windows.
