Google includes Google Gadgets and the Sidebar, shown in Figure 3–7, as part of Google Desktop. There are a number of other cool things in Google Desktop besides the Gadgets and Sidebar. For now we'll focus on Google Gadgets—how to download and use them.

Google gadgets work similarly to Windows Desktop Gadgets. There are differences, however.

• The Google sidebar, which helps you organize, move, and manage your gadgets as a group, is like a floating toolbar or menu that contains all of your gadgets (see Figure 3–7).
