Using WordPad

WordPad is a lightweight word processing program that provides rich text formatting options similar to those offered in e-mail programs, without the depth of features available in a full-featured program like Microsoft Word. If the last time you looked at WordPad was in Windows Vista or earlier, take a look again. As shown in Figure 6–1, Windows 7 WordPad does away with the old-style menu and toolbars and sports the new “Ribbon”-style of tabbed menus/toolbars introduced in Office 2007.
