Chapter 24. Generating Ad Revenue

You can maximize your Windows Phone 7 app revenue by integrating Microsoft Advertising ads into your application. You'll receive 70% of the ad revenue generated by the ads placed in your application, and Microsoft has provided a quick, easy process for adding advertising units to your application.

ADDING ADVERTISING TO YOUR APPLICATION

The Microsoft Advertising SDK currently supports Windows Phone 7 Silverlight applications of all kinds as long as they meet Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Marketplace application submission and acceptance policies and are intended for use in the U.S. market. You need only to complete a few easy steps to register with Microsoft pubCenter, create ad units, and integrate the Microsoft Advertising Mobile AdControl class for Windows Phone 7 into your application.

Create a pubCenter Account

In order to serve Microsoft Advertising ads through your application, you must create a pubCenter account. You can create your free pubCenter account by filing out the simple form shown in Figure 24-1 which can be accessed at https://pubcenter.microsoft.com.

Register Your Application with the adCenter

After creating your pubCenter account, you then need to register your application with the pubCenter using the form shown in Figure 24-2. When registering your application, use the exact same application name that you used when you submitted your application to the App Hub for inclusion in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
