Toast Notifications

Toast notifications are systemwide action requests primarily designed for use with peer-to-peer communications. Toast notifications do not disrupt the user’s workflow. They are, however, distracting and therefore should be used sparingly. Toast notifications are presented on the phone as a clickable overlay on the user’s current screen even if the associated app is not running (see Figure 15.4). Toast notifications are, however, not displayed if the current app is the app that initiated the push notification subscription. If a user clicks a toast notification, the associated app is launched.
