Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a client/server protocol. All server editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 include the DHCP Server service, which can be installed to support DHCP, as discussed in Chapter 4, “Deploying DHCP Services.” All current versions of the Windows operating system automatically install the DHCP Client service as part of TCP/IP, and you configure TCP/IP options for DHCP clients as discussed in this chapter.
