Chapter 7. Managing Disks

Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2011 includes a number of tools that administrators can use to install and manage hard disks and create volumes on those disks. In this chapter, you’ll explore such disk utilities as the Windows SBS 2011 Setup program, the Disk Management snap-in, and the Diskpart.exe command-line program. Later, in Chapter 9, you’ll learn how to create shares on the volumes, so that users can access them over the network.

There is a good deal of vocabulary involved when working with disks in Windows SBS 2011. Terms such as disk, partition, and volume can refer to the same resources at different times, but they are not necessarily interchangeable. ...
