Microsoft NetMeeting comes with Windows 98, Windows Millennium, and Windows 2000 and is used to participate in online meetings. In order to use NetMeeting, you will have to have the MSN Messenger (Microsoft’s instant messaging application). You must also have a HotMail or Microsoft PassPort account (both free email services from Microsoft). You’ll be prompted to download and install these the first time NetMeeting is run if they’re not already configured. Together, these services let you maintain a list of contacts and invite those contacts into meetings using NetMeeting.
Launch NetMeeting from within Word using the Tools → Online Collaboration → Meet Now command. This opens a dialog used for browsing through MSN Messenger Contacts. Select contacts to invite them to participate in a meeting. Schedule a meeting from within Word using the Tools → Online Collaboration → Schedule Meeting command, which opens up a new calendar appointment in Microsoft Outlook.

Starting a meeting in Word also opens the Online Meeting toolbar (Figure 13-10).
