It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Custom Post Types, Taxonomies, and Fields
In the preceding chapters, I’ve shown you how to bend posts, pages, categories, and tags to your needs. However, these types of content aren’t always sufficient, and sometimes it’s just not feasible to have several kinds of content jumbled together under Posts.
In this chapter, I’ll show you how to use custom taxonomies to create separate groups of categories and tags for your existing content. Then I’ll show you how to create whole new post types.
