13.1 Introduction

Two fast expanding areas that make it possible for objects to connect and share data via the Internet are the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). However, centralized designs for such systems, as shown in Figure 13.1, can have weak areas in terms of security and redundancy [1].
