Overview

This six-module course teaches product managers how to choose a product to design, create a business case, work with engineering, and bring it to market. It will train current and aspiring product managers how to perform market research, understand a product life-cycle process, and successfully define, develop, launch, and promote new products. The modules are intended for anyone with no prior product management experience who wants to work in that capacity in a tech business or startup, as well as aspiring founders who want to learn more about the product management process.

What you’ll learn and how you can apply it

The purpose of this course is to provide a fundamental understanding of new product design and development ideas. It presents essential management concerns in new product design; cutting-edge new product ideation, design, development, and marketing approaches.

The goal of the product management module is to walk through the product management life cycle, from inception to growth and launch, while taking customer feedback into consideration and implementing effective tools, processes, and determination to create a scalable product and manage it until its end of life. It covers the product life cycle, market research, competitive analysis, market and pricing strategies, product roadmaps, and the people skills necessary to effectively influence and negotiate. It will give you practical, actionable advice on how to create and capture value as a Product Manager, with a focus on the fundamental concepts that underpin successful product creation and management across industries and individual businesses.

  • Bridging the gap between "strategy" and "implementation"
  • Learn and implement Product Management tools
  • Prioritize your time and pick your battles (backlog)

This course is for you because…

  • You have basic product management life cycle knowledge, from defining product problem statements, market assessment, technology roadmap, development, and go-to market.
  • You have previous product management experience in charge of a team of at least five developers or cross-functional engineering teams (or if you would like to lead a team of five developers or more).
