Generate Construction Documents with LayOut

 

MODELS ARE GREAT, but to build an item, a CNC mill or fabrication shop usually needs construction documents. These are orthographic (2D) drawings that show top, front, and side views. They’re drawn to scale, meaning proportionately correct and measurable, and they are annotated, meaning they have dimensions and notes.

The good news is that you don’t have to redraw the item in drafting software. A Premium feature called LayOut exports the .123dx file as a .dwg file, where it can be worked on further in AutoCAD or another .dwg-compatible program. The .dwg file also has multiple views of the model that are visible in AutoCAD’s “paper space” mode (see Figure 4-1).
