3 Designing the Plan
As described in Chapter 1, plans can be viewed as documents that should cover the why, what, how, who, when and where of project delivery. During the Defining the Plan stage we should have clarified ‘why’ and an element of the ‘what’ in the business objectives and requirements, so we are now going to take the steps to expand on the ‘what’ and develop our understanding of ‘how’.
Figure 3.1 shows the inputs, activities and outputs of the Designing the Plan stage, and Table 3.1 provides an overview of the tools used.
