Chapter 13. Document Management Manual

Introduction

The world has become an increasingly litigious place, so companies require highly organized document management systems that they can rely on to find exactly the right documents when needed to respond to legal and other queries. This document management module walks the user through the document indexing and box labeling process for both regular and permanent file documents, as well as how to identify and store confidential documents, and document the transfer of these documents to and from storage. There is also a procedure for formally documenting the destruction of records, which can be an important issue if the company is accused of eliminating records in an irregular manner. Finally, there is a procedure for documenting the proper layout of the storage area in order to combine the maximization of storage space with the accessibility of records for rapid retrieval.
