About the Author
Janine Firpo is a values-aligned investor, angel investor, and social innovator. For almost 10 years, she has been on a personal mission to invest all of her assets so they align with her values. In 2017 she left a successful 35-year career in technology and international development to focus on how women can create a more just and equitable society through their financial investments.
During her prior career, Janine was often on the crest of what have become massive waves of progress. In 1981 she became a computer programmer in what was a male-dominated, early-stage industry. Then in 1995, she started using technology as a tool for poverty reduction, becoming one of the first practitioners exploring how to do well financially while also doing good socially. And in 2008, she became one of the first mobile money experts in a fledgling enterprise that grew from a handful of implementations to an industry with 900 million customers across more than 90 countries. Now Janine is at the crest of a new wave, as she joins with a group of visionary female leaders who are forging a movement that supports women, their money, and their values.
Janine has held executive positions in corporations, government agencies, start-up enterprises, and foundations. She spun a non-profit out of Hewlett-Packard in 2005, serving as its president for more than 10 years.
