Agentic AI is essentially autonomous AI that acts, adapts, plans, and executes complex workflows with minimal or no human direction. You may feel hesitant or anxious to move away from your favorite Generative AI (GenAI) tools (which create content on demand), such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Adobe Firefly — or you may be excited to jump aboard the next greatest thing in AI. Either way, making the move from GenAI to Agentic AI doesn’t mean you never use GenAI again. In fact, many Agentic AI systems themselves also use GenAI. And you can use both types of AI independently, however you see fit.
This chapter walks you through the basics involved in planning and deploying Agentic AI, should you choose to accept this mission. (It doesn’t, however, self-destruct.)
