Abstract

Agricultural Informatics or Agro-Informatics is a combination of Agricultural Sciences and Information Sciences. Agricultural Informatics is the applications of Information Technology in Agriculture and allied fields and thus also known as Agricultural Information Science or Agricultural Information Technology. There are different tools, techniques and technologies are applied in the agriculture and allied fields. In developed nations Agricultural Informatics is an emerging area and applicable in different areas for the betterment of agricultural activities. Apart from traditional latest viz. decision support system, artificial intelligence, remote sensing, image processing computing components are being used in the field. In some countries Agricultural Informatics is become a field of study and research. However in many developing and undeveloped countries Agricultural Informatics field can be seen as a research area instead of field of study/programs. This paper focused on how Internet of Things is applicable in agricultural sectors including the importance for promoting Agricultural Informatics practice.
