So far we have looked at passive components -
resistors, capacitors and inductors - individually,
on the theoretical side exploring their character-
istics, and on the practical side noting some of their
uses and limitations. We also saw how, whether we
like it or not, resistance always turns up to some
extent in capacitors, inductors and transformers.
Now it is time to look at what goes on in circuits
when we deliberately combine resistors, capaci-
tors and inductors in various arrangements. The
results we find will figure importantly in the
