Microsoft Fabric includes robust security and governance capabilities that are built into the platform from the ground up. Because Fabric is delivered as a software-as-a-service platform, many security features are enabled by default and require minimal configuration to get started.

Some security decisions are made centrally by Fabric administrators at the tenant level, while others are configured by workspace administrators closer to where analytics work actually happens. As an analytics engineer, most of your day-to-day responsibilities will live at the workspace level. Even so, it is important to understand how security is designed at the platform level so you can make informed decisions and avoid unintended risk.
