Lesson 16. Time Machine
Several mature and relatively easy-to-use backup solutions are available for OS X, so you may be wondering why Apple chose to invent its own backup architecture for OS X. A little research revealed that, before the introduction of Time Machine, only a small percentage of Mac users were backing up their data on a regular basis. This was an unacceptable number, so Apple decided that the only way to convince users to back up their systems was to create a new backup process that would be as easy to use as possible.
