In games, characters are cleverly designed and created to achieve the best look with the least amount of mesh detail to keep the polygon count low. Drawing on this knowledge, the film industry has taken many game-modeling techniques and modified them for film, creating low-poly efficient models and then adding detail (or polygons) when needed.
