Chapter 16. Azure Monitoring Tools
In the previous chapter, you learned how to manage and deploy Azure resources. In this chapter, we’ll turn our attention to the Azure monitoring tools that will help you maintain a healthy, secure, and optimized cloud environment.
Think of monitoring tools as being similar to the dashboard of a car, which continuously informs you of the vehicle’s fuel level, battery status, engine health, and tire pressure. In the same way, Azure provides a set of robust monitoring and advisory tools that alert you to potential issues and offer actionable recommendations to keep your cloud environment running smoothly and efficiently.
In this chapter, we’ll explore three key Azure monitoring tools:
-
Azure Advisor
-
Azure Service Health
-
Azure Monitor (including Log Analytics, Azure Monitor alerts, and Application Insights)
By the end of this chapter, you’ll understand how these tools work together to give you full visibility into and control over your Azure environment.

Just as a coach evaluates your diet, workouts, and sleep habits to suggest improvements, Azure Advisor, shown in Figure 16-1, analyzes your Azure environment and provides recommendations to help you optimize across five key categories:
-
Cost
