In this chapter, we learned that Bitcoin is the first ever implementation of a decentralized P2P network for payments and value transfers. The system works smoothly and efficiently without any need for third-party interference. We learned about decentralization of control, the different types of nodes in the Bitcoin network, and the structure of the Bitcoin network.
In the next chapter, we will learn about the software code base that powers Bitcoin.
