7.4.1 Defining a backup/recovery strategy and policy
You may use any number of backup features. However, you should decide on a
backup strategy considering how to recover the database. The appropriate
backup strategy will be designed to protect the company from losing data assets.
We recommend that you define, document, and test a policy for backup and
recovery based on the available hardware and the required service level.
You should first categorize your data according to the business dependencies.
The following is a list of example categories:
Enterprise critical data, such as the BW database
Infrastructure data, such as:
– SAP Kernel
– DB2 UDB code
– Operating system files
