5.1 Hardware configuration
The hardware used was primarily chosen to enable us to demonstrate how well
SAP BW can scale on DB2 UDB ESE. We describe scenarios of scaling within a
single server, and in a multi-server clustered environment. The operating system
used for this project was IBM AIX, and we used IBM pSeries servers for the
hardware. In particular we used the IBM pSeries 650 (P650). These servers were
mainly used for the SAP BW Central Instance and the Database Instance. The
hardware configurations are described below in Table 5-1. As you can see, we
