Project management

Summary

We spend much of our life, both in work and at home, being involved in projects of various size and complexity. Some projects appear quite simple and we think we do not need to plan them, but just rush in and start them. Often, as a result, these are the ones that drag on and never get finished satisfactorily.

Most projects, even the simpler ones, must be carefully planned to make sure they are successful. This requires that the project be tackled in phases, breaking it down into various interdependent activities and then allocating people and other resources to carry these out. This chapter takes you through these important phases.
