Software-Defined Access with Wireless
Campus networks have traditionally been built on the three-layer architecture of access, distribution, and core. Over time, many large campus networks have added virtualization, employing technologies such as Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and generic routing encapsulation (GRE) that allow overlay segmentation of traffic into virtual private networks (VPNs).
Software-Defined Access (SD-Access) is a Cisco technology that is an evolution of the traditional campus network that delivers intent-based networking (IBN) and central policy control using software-defined networking (SDN) components.
